AN approves in first discussion Law for the Protection of Pensions

In its ordinary session this Thursday, the National Assembly (AN) approved in first discussion the Bill for the Protection of Social Security Pensions against the Imperialist Blockade, which aims to establish additional mechanisms aimed at protecting elder adults. affected by the unilateral coercive measures imposed against the country.

The project was presented by the executive vice president of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, who indicated that the bill contains 13 articles, grouped into two chapters.

He explained that the proposal ratifies the illegal and illegal nature of imperialist sanctions and any other restrictive or punitive measure, dictated or implemented extraterritorially against Venezuela and its population, as provided for in the Constitutional Anti-Blockade Law for National Development and the Guarantee of human rights.

The vice president explained that the project proposes the creation and regulation of a special tax contribution, applicable to private legal entities, domiciled or not in the Republic, that carry out economic activities in the national territory.

She also detailed that in the second chapter, a special tax contribution is created and regulated, applicable to private legal entities, domiciled or not in the Republic, that carry out economic activities in the national territory.

The vice president expressed that it is a special contribution, based and calculated based on the payroll that private employers pay today, both for salary and non-salary bonuses.

She pointed out that, with this contribution, the State will be able to receive additional financial resources that will allow increasing the amount of social security pensions, notably affected by the perverse effects of unilateral coercive measures.

She stated that this Law enters the path of overcoming the economic blockade in which the nation is kept; At the same time, she stressed that the pensioner sector has been one of the most affected by the economic sanctions imposed by the United States; However, she said that Nicolás Maduro’s administration will continue to guarantee the development of Venezuela, a country that reports 11 consecutive quarters of economic growth.
