President Nicolás Maduro strongly rejected the statements made by US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, whom he accused of attempting to threaten the Venezuelan people from Guyana.
During his speech, the president defended national sovereignty and reiterated his commitment to consolidating a new democracy in the country:
«Marco Rubio came out threatening Venezuela from Guyana, but no one threatens our people. This is the homeland of Bolívar’s Liberators,» stated President Maduro, calling the US legislator a representative of a «corrupt elite» away from the Venezuelan reality.
The president also linked Rubio to opposition figures such as María Corina Machado, whom he accused of promoting actions against Venezuelan migrants: «This criminal will sooner or later answer for what she has done to the people,» he asserted, emphasizing that no act against the nation will go unpunished.
The dignitary called for unity and the defense of peace, highlighting the role of People’s Power in building a more just country:
«We must protect Venezuela by exercising our sovereignty and resisting foreign interference,» he concluded, reaffirming his commitment to self-determination and social justice.
