Venezuela raises its voice at the Human Rights Council in defense of kidnapped migrants

The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela raised its voice again at the United Nations Human Rights Council to denounce the crimes of the United States (US) against humanity, especially the violation of Venezuelan migrants kidnapped and taken to El Salvador as part of Nayib Bukele’s fascist model.

In this regard, Venezuelan Chancellor Yván Gil indicated that on this occasion, the UN highlighted «the persecution and criminalization of Venezuelan migrants, of whom 238 have been kidnapped and taken to a prison in El Salvador, whose government has received funds from Washington for each Venezuelan considered a suspected criminal, without guaranteeing them due process and thus violating all their human rights. This Human Rights Council has the responsibility to act in the face of this grave atrocity.»

Chancellor Gil, after signing his letter in support of the kidnapped migrants in El Salvador from the Bolívar Square in (downtown) Caracas, affirmed that the national government is working hard to ensure these compatriots can return to the country: «The Vuelta A La Patria (Return to the Homeland) Plan is working as hard as possible to return our compatriots; more than 1.2 million Venezuelans have been repatriated in recent years.»

He also indicated that these people must be supported so they can return «safe and sound. That is why the Bolivarian Government has taken all necessary steps at the international level, and we have condemned before the world the use of El Salvador’s territory as a concentration camp for terror.»

He noted that the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, sent a communication to both the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, and the current High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, urging them to take action regarding the kidnapping and human rights violations of these young Venezuelans.
