“Your name, your idea and your great legacy of struggle, transcend today to the highest echelon of those of us who follow this path of transformation of our peoples. “Piedad Lives, the fight continues!”, expressed the constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, when extending his condolences to the Colombian people for the physical departure of Senator Piedad Córdoba.
“Dear friend Piedad, how many battles you had to face and fight for your Homeland. A tireless warrior, and one of the bravest women I have ever known, a great revolutionary, fighter, a fervent defender of Human Rights and the Peace of the people,” published the Venezuelan Head of State on his social media account, @NicolasMaduro.
“From Venezuela, the Bolivarian land that she loved so much, I send my most heartfelt condolences to her family and the Colombian people,” he reiterated, and stated that despite facing great threats, “In her prevailed the morals and that strength to move forward in the face of any difficulty. Her love for her beloved Colombia was immense.”
It is worth remembering that, this Saturday, January 20, the Colombian senator died at her residence in Medellín, victim of a heart attack. She departed to immortality at 68 years of age.
