COVID: Venezuela registers 497 new infections and a recovery rate of 94%

This Sunday, 497 new cases of COVID-19 were registered, of which 488 are community transmissions and 9 are imported cases, which were detected by the nine molecular biology laboratories installed throughout the country and 30 rapid antigenic testing equipments installed in all states, to raise the total number of infections to 119,803, while the rate of recoveries is at 94% of the total cases, thanks to the free treatments guaranteed by the Bolivarian Government.

This was made known by the Minister of People’s Power for Health, Carlos Alvarado, during the usual weekly balance offered by the Presidential Commission for the Control and Prevention of COVID-19.

Likewise, Alvarado stated that 13 entities registered community infections during the last journey: Capital District (110); Miranda (100), Zulia (95); Carabobo (84); Aragua (36); La Guaira (22); Barinas (20); Mérida (7); Yaracuy (45); Sucre (4); Falcón and Monagas (2) and Lara (1).

Regarding the imported cases, he assured that all of them are coming from Mexico, which entered the country through the state of La Guaira.

Likewise, the Minister of People’s Power for Health lamented the death of five people due to this virus, increasing the number of deceases to 1,106.

Earlier, the Head of State said that to date there are 5,695 active cases and that the active cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 inhabitants increased to 17 this week, so he called for strengthening biosecurity measures.
