The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, held a meeting with a delegation from the People’s Republic of China, led by the special representative of the Chinese Government for Latin American Affairs, Qiu Xiaoqi, in the context of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Caracas and Beijing.
This Chinese delegation was made up of the ambassador of the Asian nation to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Lan Hu; by the Latin American Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Minister Counselor, Li Yun and the attaché, Xiong Chang.
On the Venezuelan side, President Maduro was accompanied by the first combatant woman and deputy to the National Assembly, Cilia Flores; the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez; the Venezuelan Chancellor, Yván Gil; and the deputy foreign minister for Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, Tatiana Pugh.
Likewise, there were present the sectoral vice presidents for Public Works and Services, Jorge Márquez; and for Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez; and the Minister of People’s Power for Transportation, Ramón Velásquez Araguayán.
Earlier, the head of state noted that «Diplomatic relations between China and Venezuela are increasingly strengthened, in brotherhood and fraternity, it is a sincere alliance to build a new world of peace and more humane.»
“Today we celebrate with great happiness 50 years of a friendship that is unbreakable, unbreakable and at all times. A big hug to my older brother President Xi Jingping and to all the Chinese people. China and Venezuela always united,” he highlighted on his account on the X social network, @NicolasMaduro.
After the conversation, they participated in a cultural event held by the Federation of China-Venezuela Associations, with the “Wu Long Dragon Dance”, and then the National System of Youth and Children’s Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela, performed the musical piece “Alma Llanera”.
Relations between China and Venezuela, dating back to 1974, were strengthened thanks to presidents Hugo Chávez and Jiang Zemin, who in 2001 founded the Venezuela-China High-Level Mixed Commission, as a mechanism for political dialogue and bilateral cooperation, which has given rise to oil and energy agreements up to the aerospace level.
