This Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, promulgated the Organic Law for the Defense of Essequibo, after its approval in the National Assembly.
From the Elliptical Hall of the Federal Legislative Palace, the Head of State was emphatic in pointing out that the times of colonial domination, the times of subordination in Venezuela are over forever: “There they go those surnames and oligarchies that have been and are allowed to be ruled and commanded from Washington.”
Maduro highlighted that the President of Guyana became a “puppet” of the ExxonMobil company, the British empire and the government of the United States (USA). He ratified that the Arbitration Award of 1899 is null, void, anachronistic. Venezuela does not acknowledge it and will never acknowledge it!” He emphasized.
“After having seen the faces of kings, Popes, Presidents, Prime Ministers, I had never felt so much satisfaction in defending Venezuela face to face against the president of Guyana, who simply became the puppet of ExxonMobil, the puppet of the British empire, the puppet of the Southern Command”, he said.
In this regard, President Maduro denounced that the US empire attacks Venezuela from abroad: “A Venezuela that is living in peace, that is recovering, progressing economically, a Venezuela in permanent public debate, exercising its freedoms, its sovereignty.”
“Every day we receive attacks from within from a fascist extremist right wing that has not been able to and will not be able to do more damage to this country,” he reiterated.
The National President stressed that since Venezuela was a victim of the dispossession of its Guayana Esequiba, for the first time on December 3, 2023, the people were summoned to decide the fate and future of Venezuela’s rights over Guayana Esequiba. “so that (the people) could express itself with all his sovereignty, with all his power.”
“The campaign on Guayana Esequiba managed to update knowledge and give a voice to those who had never had it on this issue, it managed to renew the patriotic sentiment of a peaceful people who never resigned themselves to having their Guayana Esequiba stripped from them,” asserted Maduro.
The legal instrument has 39 articles, five transitional provisions and two final provisions.
This law aims to establish the means and mechanisms aimed at the defense of the territory of Guyana Esequiba, currently usurped by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, as a result of the invalid Arbitration Award of 1899.
