Padrino López denounces absence of Colombian authorities in border strip

The Minister for Defense, Vladimir Padrino López, denounced on Tuesday that the Colombian authorities “are conspicuous by their absence” on the border with Venezuela.

Padrino López pointed out that “only drug traffickers and paramilitaries are seen there” extorting those Venezuelans who are seeking to return to the country.

He indicated that drug traffickers control the illegal passages by trails from the Neo Granadean territory, amidst the Covid-19 pandemic:

“You only see drug traffickers and paramilitaries extorting money from our nationals to facilitate them the illegal passage through trails and non-formal steps”, he said on Twitter.

He added that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) are working to ensure the health of Venezuelans.

Various Venezuelan government authorities have denounced that irregular groups have facilitated illegal entry from the neighboring country into our country.

This situation has influenced the increase in community infections in recent weeks.
