The date for the presidential election was set for July 28, 2024, as announced by the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Elvis Amoroso, when reading a communiqué specifying that the special journey for the national and international electoral registry will be from March 18 to April 16.

The presentation of candidate applications will take place from March 21 to 25, the selection of the members of the subordinate organizations on March 20, and the electoral campaign will run from July 4 to 25.

The preliminary electoral registration cutoff will be from April 6 to 16.

Last Friday, March 1, the CNE received the board of directors of the AN with the National Agreement on General Principles, Calendar and Electoral Guarantees for the 2024 presidential election, signed by the different political sectors of the country, as well as by numerous organizations, such as; business, cultural, educational, among others, brought by the National Assembly, ahead of the presidential elections this year.

Last Monday, March 4, the electoral body unanimously approved to declare itself in a permanent session with the purpose of evaluating and studying all the proposals included in the aforementioned document, which were 27.
