Bolivarian Government promotes scientific projects for sustainable development and public health

As part of the national meeting “Women in Sciences and Technologies”, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, and prominent Venezuelan scientists, presented three innovative projects that will be aimed at strengthening social development, public health and agroecological production of the country.

Agroproductive carbon sequestration:

In this regard, Dr. María Alejandra Zamora, from the Central University of Venezuela (UCV), leads a project that demonstrates to producers the importance of agroecological management to preserve soil health. According to the expert, this focus on agriculture is reflected in human health and food safety. Therefore, the project seeks to ensure sustainable food production and environmental conservation.

The head of state emphasized the need to implement this initiative, and adopt preventive measures for ecological agriculture that guarantees organic food and the preservation of the land.

Malaria and dengue vector control:

On the other hand, Dr. Mariana Hidalgo, in collaboration with the National Vector Control Plan, works on sampling asymptomatic people for malaria and dengue. Her project seeks to apply biocontrollers for vector control, which contribute to combating these diseases. transmitted by mosquitoes.

In this sense, the national president highlighted the importance of this research and its potential as an export product, especially in the recent world scenario, in which several Latin American countries, such as Argentina, have suffered an excessive increase in their infections and deaths. for dengue.

Policies Evaluation from a Gender Perspective:

Finally, Dr. Mariangela Petrizzo presented a project that focuses on evaluating policies from a gender perspective, with the aim of determining the impact of Venezuelan women on the production model, and responding to the needs of women in the field. scientific, focusing especially on matters related to social assistance dedicated to the care of children at an early age, and the facilities for workers to be able to pursue their careers without impediments.

In this context, President Maduro urged to seek qualitative change and inspire future generations of scientists to continue along the path of science and technology.
