TSJ orders formation of a multidisciplinary team to report on the effect of viral challenges

The Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) ordered the formation of a multidisciplinary team made up of sociologists, psychiatrists, social workers, anthropologists and psychologists, in order to inform the Constitutional Court about the effect that the viral challenges spread by the Tik Tok social network have on human behavior, especially that of children and adolescents.

From the main headquarters of the TSJ in Caracas, the president of the Constitutional Court, Tania D’ Amelio, said that «the objective is to inform the court about the effects that these types of challenges spread by the social network TikTok have on human behavior, especially on the behavior of children and adolescents,» she added.

In this regard, the team of specialists will evaluate the consequences of the viral challenges that are spread through digital platforms and that have generated human losses, specifically among minors.

In this case, the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, referred to the denounce made by the Aristóbulo Istúriz Bolivarian Family Movement: “An injunction has been discussed in favor of our children and adolescents, to which the Public Ministry has adhered because it considers that an extremely serious event has occurred, fatally injuring the lives of three children who have already died.”

He recalled that in the demonstrations that occurred on July 28, 29 and 30, it was observed that on these social networks (were shown) the violent actions of extremists in the country ignited educational centers, hospitals, and led to the murders of officials assigned to the municipal police and the Bolivarian National Guard:

We have to act as a State and protect children and adolescents (…). We have programs to protect children, such as “Drugs Destroy Your Family” and “Pedophilia is a Crime”, which seek to prevent drug use and aggression against children and adolescents,» said the Attorney General.
