President Maduro meets with the secretary of the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries

As part of the work agenda of the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, this Thursday he held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), His Excellency Mohamed Hamel, with the aim of analyzing strategies and strengthening alliances. international organizations in the production of this element of global importance.

From Office One of Miraflores Palace in Caracas, this fruitful work journey was carried out to be part of the Hydrocarbons Engine of the Bolivarian Economic Agenda supported by the Venezuelan State to strengthen agreements with strategic sectors.

The Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, was accompanied by the People’s Power Minister for Foreign Relations, Yván Gil, and the People’s Power Minister for Petroleum, Pedro Tellechea, with whom His Excellency Mohamed Hamel previously met with the aim of promoting the complementarity between different energy sources as a global strategic factor.

It is worth remembering that the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) is an international governmental association of world leading countries in terms of natural gas reserves and exports, established in Tehran, capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in 2001.

The Forum is a tool that guarantees the reliability and security of the supply and demand of gas and other energy resources. Its potential is based on the enormous natural gas reserves of the member countries, which together accumulate more than 60% of the world’s proven natural gas reserves.

Venezuela occupies the first place in Latin America and the eighth place with the largest gas reserves on a planetary scale with 200.3 Trillion Normal Cubic Feet, according to resolution 044 of the Official Gazette of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela No. 41,648, dated 5 June 2019.
