Venezuela denounced the impact of gringo sanctions on Unesco

The permanent delegate of Venezuela to Unesco, Héctor Constant, denounced in the Executive Council of the organization the impact on the development of his country of the unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States regime.
When taking the floor at the first of the two days of the general debate of the 207th session of the Council, he pointed out that the aggressiveness of Washington hits Venezuela’s efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, whose follow-up to its materialization constitutes one of Unesco’s priorities.
The ambassador recalled that the effects derived from the deepening of the sanctions by the current US administration were recently acknowledged in a report by Idriss Jazairy, special rapporteur of the United Nations on the Negative Impact of Unilateral Coercive Measures on the enjoyment of Human Rights:
“We live a dangerous moment for multilateralism. While the advance of human genius invites us to think about artificial intelligence, the harshness of international reality means that many of the countries present here must concentrate their efforts on an exercise in survival and a just defense of their sovereignty”, he warned.
According to Constant, Venezuela is one of those nations obliged to preserve its sovereignty against the attempt to ‘sell’ a sociopolitical model from abroad that generates negative consequences in terms of education and culture, areas of work of this specialized organization of the UN.
“As a curious historical paradox, those who wish to impose such a disgrace on us are the same ones who invade and plunder, destroying entire schools and cultures with the contempt of those who only know how to spread ignorance”, he said.
The diplomat affirmed in the Executive Council that when the goal of bending his country was not achieved, the American bet is to gradually cut off the services that Venezuelans believed were universally acquired.
“I offer here a single example: less than a month ago American companies blocked the computer services of the Simón Rodríguez University, thus affecting 120,000 students”, he said.
Constant reiterated in his speech the Bolivarian vocation of peace of Venezuela and the efforts of the South American nation to advance in its development, despite the growing hostility of the White House and its allies.
