The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said Tuesday that he has the necessary evidences, which prove the participation of the National Security Advisor of the United States (USA), John Bolton, in the frustrated assassination against him, which happened on August 4 of last year on Bolivar Avenue.
In an interview with American journalist Max Blumenthal – founder of The Grayzone media -, the Head of State said he could accuse and request an investigation against Bolton for the attempted murder. That day there were at least two drone explosions while the National President gave a speech, as part of the anniversary of the creation of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB).
“I can’t accuse President Trump, I can’t do it right now, but I have all the evidences to accuse and request a historical investigation into John Bolton. A criminal. He is a criminal. He failed”, said the Venezuelan president during the interview broadcast by Venezolana de Television.
“I can tell you that today I have evidences that the assassination attempt was ordered by John Bolton from the White House”, he added.
In this regard, he indicated that he is waiting for the results from the White House, however, he stressed that Bolton worked jointly with then president of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos; and with former Venezuelan deputy Julio Borges, who participated in the coup d’etat against Commander Hugo Chavez in 2002 and against President Maduro in 2014:
“If you dig deeper, you’ll see it one day. The evidence will come out, on how John Bolton did, in coordination with then Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos. And they gave the task to Julio Borges, a former legislator in Venezuela”, he emphasized.
“We have testimony, we have witnesses, evidences. All material perpetrators of this attempted murder by drone were captured. Some of the operational and intellectual authors were captured. And everything points to Julio Borges in Bogotá. Everything points to Juan Manuel Santos in Colombia. All of it. All logistics, institutional support, technical assistance, Colombian intelligence support. Everything points to John Bolton, who has a criminal mentality, the mentality of a murderer”, added the Venezuelan president.
In this regard, he said that, in addition, the people who are responsible for planning and financing the coup operations are in Miami, protected by the US government. “And they are part of the networks established by the White House, in this case, by John Bolton”.
During the interview, President Nicolás Maduro indicated that, given the possibility of a coup d’etat in the country or a new attempted assassination against him, the Venezuelan people would stand up in defense of the Bolivarian Revolution and the sovereignty and independence conquered in 20 years of revolutionary process:
“An overthrowing of the revolutionary government would provoke a national, popular and civil-military uprising. A general insurrection. It would lead to an even more radical revolution that would take a different path. You can be sure of that”, said Maduro, emphasizing that these actions would be supported by the peoples and social movements of Latin America and the Caribbean.
According to the investigations carried out by the Public Ministry, the plan was executed by two groups that were trained between the months of April and June 2018 on a farm in the town of Chinácota, north of Santander (Colombia).
To date, 38 people have been charged for their participation in these events, of which 31 are deprived of liberty and seven with substitute measures.
