Seventy-five percent of the national budget strengthens social policy of attention to the people

The fact that 75% of the 2019 national budget is directed to the social sphere ratifies that the socialist state model will continue to strengthen the human being as the center of attention of all its policies, said the sectoral vice-president for Social and Territorial Development, Aristóbulo Istúriz.
“We take 75% of the budget this year to the social scope because it is the model. That’s why when you see the cabinets, you see a vice-presidency directed to the social scope that has 11 ministries incorporated and has more than 7 organizations like Barrio Nuevo Barrio Tricolor, the National Institute of Nutrition (INN) to mention some, all aimed at the social, the benefit of the people”,said Istúriz during an interview on the “Al Aire” (On Air) program, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión (VTV).
Amidst the war and the economic blockade imposed by the United States against the Venezuelan nation, the Bolivarian Government has developed strategies for social security, Istúriz mentioned among them, citing the one referred to the more than 4 million elderly people who receive a pension.
In addition to the protection to the salary, the economic support by means of the Carnet de la Patria (Homeland Card), the distribution of foods through the Local Committee of Supply and Production (Clap) and the subsidy of medicines and medical supplies by means of allied countries and international organizations such as the United Nations and the Red Cross were other social policies that Istúriz mentioned as direct attention to the people that have been maintained despite the siege of the empire against the national economy.
These actions are part of the strong commitment that Venezuela has to respect and guarantee human rights, he said.
“We are not happy with only political and civil rights, we speak for economic rights, social and cultural rights, we have a chapter regarding indigenous peoples in the Constitution. Venezuela to this day has been one of the most respectful countries with Human Rights. For us, social security is fundamental”, he said.
