The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stressed this Tuesday that only three sectors of the Venezuelan opposition have refused to talk and participate in the convocation for the National Constituent Assembly, among them the Federation of Businessmen (Fedecámaras), the Self-called (opposition) Bureau of Democratic Unity (MUD) and the Venezuelan Episcopal Conference (CEV).
During a meeting of the Council of Ministers held in the Néstor Kirchner hall of Miraflores Palace in Caracas, the National President recalled that the Chairman of Fedecámaras had declared that he wanted to participate in the dialogue, but however, stated that his agenda “had become complicated “and issued a statement against the dialogue.
“He had a political agenda problem, because his agenda is not that of peace, it is not that of the prosperity of the country, the Fedecámaras agenda is that of plot, of permanent conspiracy, it is anti-peace. I tell them Fedecámaras the doors of dialogue are still open so that they know, (…) I want dialogue for peace”, he said.
He also noted that the MUD has repeatedly denied dialogue and called for hatred, for the armed insurgency, and also “has entered the worst spiral of hate speech among Venezuelans.”
“War, violence and “guarimbas” (riot barricades) are no alternatives for Venezuelans, it is no alternative for our country, dialogue has no alternative, peace has no alternative, and the MUD went down the road of armed insurgency, hatred and fascism”, he said.
Despite this continued rejection, the Head of State reiterates the call for all these political sectors to participate in the dialogue for stability and peace in the country.
