The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported on Monday that a total of 4,156,567 people are enrolled in the Bolivarian National Militia, which today meets 11 years from being founded.
In statements from the Mountain Headquarters, in the 23 de Enero parish in Caracas, the Venezuelan head of state indicated that a total of 1,165 Popular Groups for Integral Defense (APDI) have been formed, as well as 14,383 Popular Bases for Integral Defense ( BPDI) and a total of 50,459 Popular Integral Defense Units (UPDI) with an average of 30 to 60 militiamen.
The National Government has as a goal the incorporation of five million people in the Bolivarian National Militia.
He remembered the work carried out by the Venezuelan people 18 years ago, to recover constitutional order and return then-President Hugo Chávez to the Presidency, and thus overthrow the coup d’état carried out against him.
He indicated that these actions led Commander Chávez to create seven years later the Bolivarian National Militia, in commemoration of this historic feat.
For its part, the military corps ratified their commitment to the defense of the Homeland, in the face of constant interventionist threats from the United States government.
