National Assembly unanimously approves law for the regularization of NGOs

The deputies of the National Assembly (AN), in the Federal Legislative Palace, unanimously approved the Law of Supervision, Regularization, Action and Financing of Non-Governmental Organizations and Non-Profit Social Organizations, and it was sent to the Executive for the purposes of its promulgation in accordance with the provisions of article 213 of the Bolivarian Constitution of Venezuela.

It should be noted that in the House of Representatives, the parliamentarian Diosdado Cabello, president of the Committee on Internal Policy, presented the project in second discussion, and requested the right to speak in order to carry out some observations received from some sectors of the country, with reference to article 23 of the aforementioned law, on the financing of terrorist acts by these NGOs, so that they receive the corresponding sanction:

«We have found that these NGOs receive funds and suddenly we see them financing riots, acts of terrorism in the national territory and this would serve to put a stop to that possibility, so that those who fall into this regulation receive the sanction of the law,» said the deputy.

It is important to note that in the articles of this Law it is established that the Ministry of the Interior, Justice and Peace must establish and maintain a national registry of NGOs and non-profit Social Organizations, which must contain a systematization and update of information related to the Constitution, financing, operation and modification of the same.

Likewise, a provision was approved establishing that NGOs and non-profit Social Organizations must obtain tax registration in compliance with tax legislation.

This Law aims to review and monitor NGOs that receive funding, which in many cases have been used as instruments to attack the people and fund actions against our country.

Its articles clearly establish the responsibilities and duties of Non-Governmental and Related Organizations, as well as the regulations for their operation and financing.
