The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, held a fraternal meeting with his Guyanese counterpart Irfaan Alí, as part of the development of the 8th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), which took place in San Vincent and the Grenadines.
Both heads of state gave each other a gift, which demonstrates the triumph of peace, despite the dispute over the territory of Guayana Esequiba.
This Friday, the 8th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) began in the city of Kingstown in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, where participated the Venezuelan head of state and Ali, as well as other presidents.
It is worth noting that last January, the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, and his Guyanese counterpart, Hugh Hilton Todd, agreed to maintain diplomatic channels as the only way to resolve the territorial controversy over Guyana Essequiba, as part of the first Mixed Commission of Venezuela-Guyana Chancellors and Technicians, which was held in Brazil.
