Group of Like-Minded Countries condemns media attacks on Venezuela

The Chancellor of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza, held a meeting on Monday with the Group of Like-Minded Countries, with the aim of condemning the media and economic aggression against Venezuela.

The meeting, held in Geneva, Switzerland, was chaired by the People’s Republic of China, and was attended by representatives from Pakistan, India, Cuba, Bolivia, Ecuador, Egypt, Sudan, Myanmar, Belarus, Kuwait, Russia, South Africa, Malaysia , North Korea, Zimbabwe, Angola, Algeria among others, as reports the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in a press release.

In the meeting, the Group of Like-Minded Countries highlighted their support and support for the people and the Government of Venezuela as well as its president Nicolás Maduro, at the same time that he denounced the media campaign against the Homeland of Bolívar.

Similarly, Arreaza denounced the attempted assassination to the degree of frustration against the Head of State, Nicolás Maduro, a fact which occurred last Saturday, August 4.

“The Venezuelan extremist internal opposition attempted against the life, not only of President Nicolás Maduro, but also of those present in a military act in a central avenue of Caracas, with the use of drones loaded with C4 explosives”, expressed Arreaza.

Arreaza stressed that the attempted bombing was coordinated and sponsored by the Governments of Colombia and the United States: “This is a sample of how far the attacks against Venezuela can go”.

On the other hand, the foreign minister pointed out that the world has witnessed the imposition of unilateral coercive measures against Venezuela, “actions that have had great negative impacts on the economy”.

Earlier, Arreaza participated in the 39th session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations (UN), where he denounced and demanded that the aggression of the United States Government, the European Union and its allies against the Homeland of Bolivar.

In addition, he met with the High Commissioner for Human Rights of the United Nations (UN), Michelle Bachelet, who took office this Monday.
