Venezuela faces reckless claims before the ICJ for advisory referendum

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, reported that in The Hague, the headquarters city of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), there is a Venezuelan delegation, led by the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, with the aim of confronting this reckless pretension by the “puppet” government of ExxonMobil:

They want to apply the model of legal colonialism, and Guyana, with this reckless action, intends to have the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela repealed. On December 3, we are going, massively, to vote to respond to the claims of ExxonMobil, the Southern Command and Guyana. The Constitution of Venezuela is not to be repealed by anyone. There is no legal colonialism that can repeal it,” said the head of state, during the broadcast of program No. 25 of “Con Maduro+”.

In that sense, President Maduro explained that article 71 of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela establishes that “the people of Venezuela will be consulted on any matter of special importance and that may be of greater importance for a country than the defense of its territorial integrity”.
