El Aissami presents findings on the attack on the gas pipeline in the east of the country

The Sectoral Vice President for Economy and Minister of People’s Power for Petroleum, Tareck El Aissami, offered this Tuesday details to the country in which he expanded the complaint and presents the findings regarding the attack perpetrated last Saturday against the Eastern Gas Pipeline System, located in the Aguasay sector of Monagas state.

El Aissami reported that after carrying out the investigations in the place where the explosion occurred, it was determined that it was a provoked event, assuring that before what happened “there was no signal, absolutely no kind of alert that could anticipate an operational failure, Quite the contrary, the system had been working completely normally”.

The high-ranking official of the Bolivarian Government described that as a result of this attack “the flames reached heights of more than 100 meters and the blast wave was of a great magnitude”, in this sense he recognized the firefighters of PDVSA, Pequiven and the FANB for their great effort amidst this situation.

Likewise, the Sectoral Vice President of Economy highlighted the performance of the Commander of the Eastern REDI, MG. Winder González Urdaneta, “who has been from the first minute of the event, along with the entire FANB, attending to this contingency,” he said.

El Aissami revealed that within the materials found inside an improvised structure, so-called a “cambuche“, and that are currently in custody for the investigation, there are two studs (flange bolts), which shows that those who perpetrated the act had planned an escape.

In this sense, he announced that they will continue to deepen the investigations, announcing that this finding is important, since “it allows conducting the line of investigation to find the culprits of this criminal attack.”

Next, the Minister for Oil assured that they are already restoring operations, first repairing the sections affected by the sabotage, emphasizing that “in a few hours the methane gas service will be restored to the industrial sector of Venezuela”.

Finally, he reiterated the commitment that they maintain together with the working class, technical teams, scientists, firefighters and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), who “determinedly acted with patriotism, to face this vile and reprehensible action by the enemies of peace”.
