Delcy Rodríguez confirms 12 new Covid 19 cases for a total of 414 cases in Venezuela

The Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic, Delcy Rodríguez confirmed this Sunday 12 new cases of Covid-19 coronavirus in the country, and the number of those infected in the country rises to 414.

Rodríguez explained that one of the cases is of community transmission, six are imported from Colombia and five are coming from Brazil.

He explained that of the 12 new cases detected, four are from Amazonas state, one from Bolívar state, two from Nueva Esparta state, one from Carabobo state, one from Falcón state, two from Táchira state and one from Miranda state.

The first case of Táchira state corresponds to a 42-year-old woman coming from Bogotá, she was quarantined and after the molecular test she tested positive for the outbreak, and so she was admitted into the Integral Diagnosis Center (CDI) Andrés Bello, from the region.

The second case is a 32-year-old man who entered Venezuela on April 29, from Táchira state, coming from the Nariño municipality, Colombia, is asymptomatic and is admitted to the CDI.

The third case of Covid-19 infection is a 29-year-old woman from Carabobo state, who entered Venezuela from Bucaramanga, Colombia, and after completing her quarantine, she underwent a molecular test that tested positive, is asymptomatic and located in the CDI Los Guayos.

The fourth case is a 34-year-old man from Nueva Esparta state, a waiter by profession, returning from Bogotá, Colombia and who entered by the Zulia state assistance post on April 29. A test was applied and he was negative, after the transfer to Nueva Esparta, he had a preventive test and he tested positive, and so he is admitted into the CDI.

The fifth case is of a five-year-old boy from Nueva Esparta state, who came from Bogotá on April 29, and after doing a molecular test as part of the epidemiological control, he tested positive and is in the Narváez Hospital.

The sixth case is a 38-year-old woman from Falcón state, a professional teacher, who arrived on April 17 from Cúcuta, Colombia, entering through Táchira state, after completing the quarantine, she moved to Falcón state where she had a molecular test and tested positive, is on a CDI.

The seventh case is a 23-year-old man from Monagas state, who arrived in the country from Brazil on April 28, detected in Santa Elena de Uairén, and is being held in a CDI in Caroni.

The eighth case is a 67-year-old woman from Amazonas state, who entered the country from Brazil on May 5, and using a molecular test was detected as positive and is on a CDI.

The ninth case is a 15-year-old adolescent from Amazonas state, who came from Brazil and during the quarantine had a molecular test applied and tested positive, is being held at a CDI.

The tenth case is an 8-year-old boy who arrived from Brazil, on May 5 with his family, he is from Amazonas state, after applying a molecular test, he tested positive and is currently on a CDI.

Case number eleven this Sunday is a 77-year-old man from Amazonas state, who was diagnosed when he entered on May 5, from San Gabriel, Brazil, and is in a CDI under treatment.

The last case is a 26-year-old man who belongs to the Cuban Medical Mission, in Miranda state, and through a molecular test he tested positive and is in a CDI.

The vice president specified that the six cases coming from Colombia and the five coming from Brazil were detected in the epidemiological control, as part of the protocols recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).

In this sense, she detailed that the National Government is making “emphasis on imported cases, because we know that Colombia and Brazil are threatening sources”, because 52 of the total cases are imported from Colombia, while 17 are coming from Brazil.

The Executive Vice President detailed that 46.6% of the people who were infected in the country have already recovered. 98% of cases are asymptomatic or present mild symptoms.

She specified that, of the active cases, 100 are in hospitals, 93 in CDI, 18 in private clinics, and 10 deceased.

In the territorial distribution, Nueva Esparta state has the first place in infected with 139; then it is followed by Miranda, Aragua, Táchira states and the Capital District.
