Venezuela congratulates People’s Republic of China on successful legislative elections in Hong Kong

Venezuela congratulates the people and government of the People’s Republic of China “for the successful holding of the regional elections of the Legislative Council of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. With this historic milestone, the principle of ‘one country, two systems’ continues to consolidate.

This was expressed by the Minister of People’s Power for Foreign Relations Félix Plasencia in a message published through his account on the Twitter social network @plasenciafélix.

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region yesterday held regional elections to elect those who will occupy the 90 seats of the Legislative Council of that entity for the next four years.

The executive head of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), Carrie Lam, valued this election day as positive, in which participated 153 candidates who opted for the 90 seats of the aforementioned Legislative Council.

In this regard, Lam said that the new legislators “come from a wide range of origins, in terms of age, professions, fields and political attitudes”, diversity that will contribute to the work of the Legislative Council “to jointly promote the economic development of Hong Kong and improve the quality of life of the population “
