Venezuela reports 426 positive Covid-19 cases in 24 hours

This Thursday the presidential report for the combat and control of Covid 19 notified 345 community contagions and 81 of imported origin being registered this Thursday, July 16, 2020 for a total of 426 COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours. This data causes Venezuela to rise to 10,854 people with the virus.

The information was provided by the Minister for Communication and Information, Jorge Rodríguez, who highlighted the persistence of the country’s main focus located in the Las Pulgas market, in Maracaibo, Zulia state; of the national infections 142 are belonging to that western entity, 73 are directly related to the market and the rest are the product of the expansion of this focus.

In the national classification list for infections by Covid -19 this Thursday, Zulia state is followed by the Capital District, where the daily registry of people who contract the infection continues, in most of the parishes that comprise it. 59 were detected on July 16, distributed as follows: 21 in Catia, 8 in El Valle, 5 in Santa Rosalía, 5 in El Paraíso, 2 on 23 de Enero, Antímano, Coche, La Pastora, San José and San Juan, and 1 in San Pedro, Macarao, El Recreo El Junquito, Catedral and Caricuao.

In this regard, he also indicated that Sucre state follows in this list of states with the most infections this day. The eastern entity registered 41 infections.

Rodríguez also reported on the death of 4 Venezuelans as a consequence of complications caused by the virus.

Jorge Rodríguez also reported that Venezuela has carried out 1,414,066 diagnostic tests for COVID-19, which represents the execution of 47,136 tests per million inhabitants, totally free.
