Venezuela demands Citgo company to be returned

“Venezuela demands the Citgo company to be returned to it, without conditions, and for the more than 4 billion dollars that we have accumulated in the United States banks in net profit be deposited,” said the Venezuelan head of state, after giving a reading to the drop in the net profit of this company, which stood at 59.45% in the second quarter of 2023.

“It is a disaster because Citgo has been kidnapped by the United States government, demonstrating the legal uncertainty that exists in the United States, for any investor. The trial that is being carried out against Citgo, against Venezuela is simply something that can be applied to any country in the world at any time,” warned the President about this issue.

Along these lines, the national Dignitary pointed out that the United States “is not a safe country to make investments, to buy companies, to have economic activity,” while recalling that “the United States handed over Citgo to the right-wing extremist opposition and everyone applauded, and they are simply stealing from a company that costs more than 12 billion dollars and that belongs to the Venezuelans.”

He illustrated that the company makes at least a billion dollars in annual net income. “The company has accumulated 4 billion dollars from these years of kidnapping 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, and this 2023.”

He insisted that it is about 4 billion dollars in profits that belong to Venezuelans: “Not only does a company belong to us, but also the profits it gives, in addition to many other benefits that the company had for Venezuela. As you know, the Simón Bolívar Social Assistance Fund, which was to help boys and girls who needed an operation”.
