Jorge Rodríguez: González Urrutia’s letter is a capitulation of his own

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, in a press conference, indicated that the letter from the former presidential candidate, Edmundo González, is nothing more than a capitulation of his and of a certain position and aspiration that was defeated by the people of Venezuela, on July 28:

«This is a capitulation, in strictly military terms, and if we were in a confrontation, it is a surrender, only that we are very careful regarding the respect, honor and the good deed of people, I reiterate that this is nothing more than a capitulation of Mr. González Urrutia,» he said.

Rodríguez stressed that in order to discuss the final points of his capitulation: «The Executive Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, and I were summoned to the residence of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Spain.»

He also stated that at the negotiating table, he and the Executive Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, mentioned to Edmundo González Urrutia that sectors of the extreme right wing “were planning violent acts against representatives of the Bolivarian Government, in this regard, those who accompanied the former candidate González Urrutia, assured that he had nothing to do with that.”

He also stated that “there is a second document signed by me and received by Edmundo González Urrutia, in which he asks for respect to his property, his family and for the residences of his children and relatives to be respected. I had no problem signing that letter, because these are the rights that the Constitution grants to all Venezuelans. I have that document, do not force me to publish it, in no line of that document appears anything about people deprived of liberty.”

Likewise, it was known that the former presidential candidate Edmundo González admitted in a private meeting with the president of the AN, Jorge Rodríguez, that María Machado was involved in plans to generate violence and destabilize the country.
