This Monday, Chancellor Jorge Arreaza rejected the interventionist statements of the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, where he disqualified the appointment of the new rectors of the National Electoral Council (CNE):
“The rotten plutocracy of the United States restricts the Afro and Latino vote, but has the nerve of questioning the new Venezuelan National Electoral Council to try to evade the will of our people. They would prefer an electoral system that avails their coups d’état, as in Bolivia”, wrote Arreaza through his Twitter account.
The Venezuelan diplomat shared some statements by Pompeo, who disqualifies the TSJ and refers to the designation of the new CNE as “first steps to manipulate upcoming elections” supposedly in favor of the president, Nicolás Maduro.
The Constitutional Chamber of the TSJ declared the constitutional omission by the AN, which has been in contempt since 2016, in the appointment of the members of the CNE. By means of a sentence, the instance declared itself as competent to hear and resolve the demand.
