President Maduro mourns death of journalist Asalia Venegas


The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, lamented this Monday the death of journalist and professor Asalia Venegas.
“Irreparable physical loss of an exemplary and professional woman, the teacher and journalist Asalia Venegas, wife of our brother and friend Earle Herrera, to whom I send my deepest condolences. A supportive and eternal hug to your family and friends. Fly High, Asalia!”, expressed the head of state through the Twitter social network.
Venegas won the National Prize in Opinion Journalism in 2008 and in Teaching and Research, in 2000.
This outstanding communicator was deserving of the municipal journalism awards in Libertador (1993), Baruta (1993) and Chacao municipalities (1994).
Venegas served as director of the School of Social Communication of the Central University of Venezuela, between 1999 and 2005.
