The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, ordered to expedite the approval of resources and begin the works of the 4,500 prioritized projects that the Venezuelan people decided last Sunday, April 21 with the national consultation, as the first and immediate action to support the unprecedented role of the People’s Power.
“And we cannot delay even a single second and the resources must reach the communities to start at once, in an accelerated manner, because some projects are more complex than others,” explained the national leader, from the Antímano parish of Caracas, in the Mamera sector.
“You are the hope, and hope is in the streets,” he concluded, during the work journey dedicated to the balance of the Great Mission of Equality and Social Justice “Hugo Chávez” (GMIJS) and the National Popular Consultation 2024.
“I am very happy, because last Sunday a historic milestone occurred with the Great Consultation of the Communes and the participation of the people freely, to debate and vote for their projects,” he expressed, after arriving in that locality of Caracas, accompanied by the executive vice president Delcy Rodríguez, the first combatant woman Cilia Flores, the mayor of Caracas, Carmen Meléndez, the minister for Communes, Guy Vernáez, and the minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Juan Carlos Loyo, among other civil and military authorities.
He highlighted that, in 1999, the consultative referendum called by Commander Hugo Chávez was held on April 25 to decide the National Constituent Assembly (ANC), the first referendum in the history of Venezuela, which decided the refoundation of the Republic, and which today meets 25 years.
“It was the first, because Chávez came to democratize the country, it is the truth, he came to end the farce of bourgeois democracy, of the oligarchy, of surnames and to begin the construction of a true popular democracy, with the people, with the people empowered and as a protagonist,” he summarized.
Maduro commented that this is the starting point, which was extended with the creation of the People’s Power, then the birth of the first communal councils and, later, Commander Chávez created a higher instance, the communes, which is the instance in which that the powers and forces of the communal councils are grouped together.
“And step by step, we have been building, like someone raising a building with strong foundations (…) and what is the column of the country’s new democracy? The People’s Power, the conscious, empowered, organized, mobilized people,” he said with emotion.
He confirmed that the national consultation, which emulated those carried out on three previous occasions on a specific basis in the Bolivarian state of Miranda, was carried out throughout the national territory so that the entire people could decide in a leading and participatory manner their projects that will solve prioritized problems:
“I believe that this is the way to change everything, to attend to what people need and cry for; and I believe that it does not have to be done once a year, these consultations to approve resources for prioritized projects have to be done every quarter, four times a year, and that people come out to decide rather than choose. You are in charge of improving the mechanisms,” he instructed.
