National Dialogue Board installs complementary electoral board

Representatives of the National Government and the opposition agreed on Wednesday the installation of the complementary board for the formation of the new National Electoral Council (CNE).

The information was released by the sectoral vice president for Communication, Culture and Tourism, Jorge Rodríguez, after departing a new journey of the National Dialogue Board for Peace at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the Casa Amarilla (Yellow House), in Caracas.

In statements to the press, Rodriguez stressed that this announcement complies with point two of the agreements signed between both sectors on September 16 for a political solution in defense of sovereignty and in compliance with the National Constitution:

“The conformation of the new CNE will assume the upcoming electoral processes and the paths for discussion with the political sectors”, he said.

The head of the Communications Office said that during the activity were discussed important issues such as the proposal to resume the proportional representation of political parties, electoral guarantees that include audits to the registry, voting machines, as well as the presence of international observers

Public Ministry will give new announcements on measures of freedom substitution:

Rodríguez also informed that on Thursday the Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, will give new announcements on substitute measures for prisoners for political reasons, as part of the agreements reached.

The measure is based on point three of the agreements signed which states that the justice system should be called upon through the Truth Commission, so that measures of replacement of deprivation of liberty are agreed in those cases in which the Venezuelan legal system so allow.

In total there are six points agreed, implemented and that are in full development: The incorporation of the Homeland Block into the National Assembly (AN), to deal with the new formation of the National Electoral Council (CNE), and electoral guarantees; to exhort the justice system through the Life Commission to apply measures of release in those cases that allow it; to reaffirm and defend the legitimate rights of Venezuela over the Essequibo territory as contemplated in the Geneva Agreement; to reject economic sanctions against the country and demand that they be lifted, and implement an oil-for-food and medicines exchange program.
