Venezuelan government announces and ratifies to the international community its official withdrawal from the OAS

Venezuela announces to the international community and the peoples of the world its formal departure from the OAS, after denouncing its Charter on April 27, 2017.
Full Communiqué:
“The government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, faithful to its republican and democratic principles and in adherence to its National Constitution and International Law, announces to the international community and the peoples of the world, the breaking of the chains that bound it to the dictatorship imposed by the United States in the Organization of American States (OAS).
With the denunciation of the Charter of the Organization of American States made by the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on April 27, 2017, within the framework of the provisions of Article 143; from this date, no instrument signed and / or issued by the OAS will have any political or legal effect for the Venezuelan State and its institutions.
In exercise of its political independence and sovereign rights, the Bolivarian government of Venezuela has denounced to the international community the dysfunctionality of the OAS, characterized by the violation of international law, the systematic transgression of its founding Charter and the procedural fraud, the political subordination of its bureaucracy to the interests of the government of the United States, the programmed loss of political pluralism throughout the American continent under a colonial and supremacist vision; and the permanent injury, among others, of the principles of sovereignty and self-determination of its member states.
Led by the United States, a group of satellite governments has sacrificed the fundamental Charter of the OAS that rules the relations between the countries of the hemisphere, and has violated all its norms and historical operating practices, imposing a dictatorship on the Organization that transgresses the rights of its 34 member states. That dictatorship has allowed, promoted, facilitated and participated actively in the destabilization of democracy in Venezuela. That group that violated the OAS norms has validated external aggression, the illegal application of unilateral coercive measures; the threat of the use of force by third States; sabotage and economic suffocation against our nation and the kidnapping, confiscation and looting of the Republic’s assets.
That group of satellite governments has promoted disowning of the National Constitution, democratic institutions and legitimately elected authorities, inciting violence, chaos and civil war in our nation; and corrupting the OAS until it becomes an accomplice instrument in a foreign military intervention against our people.
The dictatorship implanted in the OAS is a threat to regional and international peace and security and, in this sense, the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela warns the international community about future actions that this warmongering group intends to execute against our nation in clear violation of international law.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela thanks the important number of countries that, within the Organization, rejected the abuses and violations of the dictatorial group and manifested their attachment to international law in defense of the sovereignty, self-determination and independence of all States. We assure these brotherly countries that our government and people will not rest in the defense of their freedom and in the assurance of peace.
Today, the people and government of Venezuela break the chains of the racist Monroe Doctrine and ratify that the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela is irrevocably free and independent and bases its moral patrimony and its values of freedom, equality, justice and international peace in the doctrine of Simón Bolívar”.
In Caracas, birthplace of liberators, on the 27th day of the month of April 2019.
