This is what Diosdado Cabello said about the proposal for a general election

Diosdado Cabello, the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), ruled out a general election in the country as have raised opposition sectors who refused to participate in the last electoral process where Nicolás Maduro was elected as President of the Republic for the 2019-2025 term:
“So you say right now that you want general elections?; You bet, then. In here there will be no general elections, because here we have a President elected by the people on May 20 (2018) who will not resign, and who has all the powers as President of the Republic”, he said.
The PSUVs leader recalled that the only pending elections in Venezuela for the next few years are the parliamentary elections:
“If there were any elections here, if there have to be elections, will be to elect the National Assembly (AN), nothing more. There will be AN elections, why? For two reasons: it is the only body that has not been legitimized before the utterly Sovereign National Constituent Assembly, but they are also the next elections that belong, because here there were already elections for governors, mayors, councilors and the President of the Republic”, he said. At the same time, he recalled that in the presidential elections a sector from the opposition refused to participate:
“That you have not participated, that is not our responsibility. The only reason they did not participate was because they did not agree to choose a candidate”, he recalled.
