ANC has powers to waive parliamentary immunity

The Constituent, Diosdado Cabello, affirmed that those who have attacked the Constitution, the democracy and the people can not participate in any electoral process.

“They have shown, by the facts, that they do not believe in democracy. It cannot be that you show today as a candidate, and tomorrow as a coup plotter or a person who does not mind ending up with the city, with the lives of human beings”, he said during a popular mobilization in support of the ANC.

He recalled that the ANC has plenipotentiary powers, and therefore has the authority to waive parliamentary immunity.

“Immunity is not granted so you can violate the law, it is to protect whoever has it, in the act where are fulfilled duties corresponding to the position. Not to burn a city, not to call for violence or to call for terrorist acts”, he said.

He recalled that the Commission for Truth and Justice is already working, and invited all sectors, including those from the opposition, to participate in this instance.
