Extremist María Corina Machado seeks to sow hatred among university students

The far-right wing activist, María Corina Machado, recently issued an audio message, published on her social networks; with which she intends to subvert civil order in academic institutions in Venezuela, specifically at the Arturo Michelena University (UAM), located in Valencia, Carabobo state, where she also calls on students to rebel.

During her statement, she accused the UAM authorities of “infiltrating a student chat”, in which supposedly were discussed the events following the elections of July 28. In the same way, she alleged without evidence that said students “were contacted and threatened for the seriousness of their opinions”; in addition to receiving apparent blackmail.

Likewise, during another excerpt from the audio, the extremist demarcated a line between “the good guys” and “the bad guys,” where she stated that those who do not join the national sedition “will be judged by the weight of history and the law. At this point, it is not viable to hide behind an institution, a union, a uniform or an ID card,” she threatened.

It should be noted that the rector of the UAM, Giovanni Nani, denounced communicator Orlando Avendaño for spreading fake news intended to incite hatred and violence against the academic leadership of the institution. Through a video spread on social media, Nani assured that “in a cowardly and irresponsible way”, Avendaño accused the authorities of this house of studies of supposedly expelling several students and professors for demonstrating against the national government, and in this way denies María Corina’s lies about the alleged threats to students.
