Amnesty process advances with releases and precautionary measures

The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, reported that the amnesty process in Venezuela is advancing with the releases and attention to cases with a measure of substitution of freedom.

During a press conference, Parliamentarian Rodríguez confirmed that the process is under development and indicated that are being reviewed 1,557 requests for amnesty from people deprived from liberty, and 11,000 requests from people with a substitution measure of deprivation of liberty.

The cases of Zone 7 of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) and El Helicoide (in Caracas) are the first that are being attended to, as detailed the president of the Venezuelan Parliament.

The parliamentarian highlighted that, at this precise moment, are already being produced hundreds of releases of citizens who are being covered by this legal benefit.

Rodríguez was emphatic in pointing out that the roadmap to comply with the deadlines demanded by the Acting President is one of immediate execution, which is why the monitoring commission has been declared in permanent session to process all cases uninterruptedly.

Regarding the exclusions of the law, Rodríguez explained that military cases will be referred to the program for Peace and Democratic Coexistence, thus the Judicial Revolution, chaired by the sectoral vice president for Politics and Citizen Security, Diosdado Cabello, to recommend measures for people who do not strictly fit within the framework of the Amnesty Law.

As an example of these special considerations, the deputy mentioned the case of Juan Pablo Guanipa, who, despite being among those excluded for calling for violent actions, received a measure of full freedom by official decision, which the government hopes will be adequately valued.
