During the extraordinary session held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, the Venezuelan diplomatic delegation presented the advances and strategies for territorial planning being implemented by the National Executive following the damages caused by the recent seismic events in the country.
At a UN meeting on the Midterm Review of the New Urban Agenda, the Permanent Mission of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reaffirmed that access to sustainable, inclusive, and resilient urban development is a fundamental right essential for the well-being of the peoples.
The Venezuelan government is currently prioritizing the safe reorganization of the habitat through the updating of technical construction standards, a thorough review of risk maps, and integral interventions in the affected areas.
“Following the recent earthquakes, the Venezuelan Government is coordinating plans of territorial order based on technical criteria for earthquake resistance and climate resilience,” emphasized the diplomatic mission through its official channels with a strategy that combines the precision of technical studies with the strength of community action.
In this context, the strategy aims not only to repair infrastructure, but also to transform urban spaces into environments capable of resisting the impact of climate change and future seismic events, which demonstrates that the response to natural disasters is based on prevention, scientific knowledge, and institutional solidarity with the affected families.
