This Thursday, September 17, was installed the second cycle of conversations between the National Assembly delegation, led by Deputy Jorge Rodríguez, and the delegation representing the parliament elected in 2015, led by Dinorah Figuera.
The first cycle took place between August 6 and 12 and concluded with two commitments: the complete renovation of the Supreme Court of Justice and the recovery of funds to assist those affected by the earthquakes of June 24. The judicial reform is already advancing in the Parliament, which has approved in the first reading changes to the law governing the high court and the mechanism for selecting magistrates.
The process has the support of the United States and the European Union.
The British Minister for Latin America, Chris Elmore, manifested on Tuesday that the United Kingdom received with satisfaction the dialogue and the progress achieved; while the President of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, emphasized last August that this is one of the few times “a dialogue between Venezuelans has been convened without the facilitation of foreign organizations, which is highly positive”.
