COMMUNIQUÉ
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Government and the people of Venezuela, joins the celebration of the Republic of India, to commemorate today the 69th Anniversary of its Independence Day.
On August 15, 1947, the Indian people ended the dominion of the British Empire with the establishment of a Government which became an international reference thanks to the courageous participation of pacifist hero Mahatma Gandhi, a historic leader who has inspired great causes for justice and peace in the world.
The Venezuelan Government reaffirms to the sisterly Republic of India, a leading member of the BRICS, its interest and willingness to broaden, deepen and diversify the economic, political, cultural and cooperation ties, in order to strengthen the bilateral and multilateral relationship. Commander Hugo Chavez envisioned in India a referential power for the construction of a multipolar and multicentric world.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela avails of this opportunity to greet and ratify our friendship and affection to the Republic of India, reiterating our absolute willingness to work together in strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and understanding between the two nations and their brave peoples .
