Government declares persona non grata to ambassador of Spain in Venezuela

The Bolivarian Government declared persona non grata to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Venezuela, Jesús Silva Fernández, in response to the continuous acts of interference in the internal affairs of the country.

On January 22, the European Union (EU) on the initiative of the Spanish administration, sanctioned Venezuelan officials, a measure that was defended by the President of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, who described them as “well deserved”.

The Government, through a statement, rejected the statements by Rajoy, who assumed the leadership of the conspiracy against Venezuela, following guidelines of the US administration.

Read the statement from the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs:

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela informs the national and international community, which has decided to declare the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain in Venezuela, Jesús Silva Fernández, as Persona non Grata, as of the present date, in virtue of the continuous aggressions and recurrent acts of interference in the internal affairs of our country, by the Spanish Government.

In this regard, the Bolivarian Government of Venezuela expresses its categorical rejection of the statements issued by the President of the Spanish Government, Mariano Rajoy, this January 24, in relation to restrictive measures, contrary to the most elementary principles of International Law, which The European Union has erratically and unilaterally applied against high officials and heads of Venezuelan public powers.

On September 26, 2017, President Rajoy paid a visit to his US counterpart, to receive infamous instructions and submit to his designs with respect to Venezuela, promising to assume the leadership of the conspiracy in Europe, in order to arrange attacks on the sovereignty and independence of the Venezuelan people with their European partners, in exchange for inconsequential political and economic benefits for the particular benefit of a part of the cupola that governs Spain.

The President of the Spanish Government has expressed that he “Wishes for Venezuelans, the same as for Spaniards.” Unfortunately, the Kingdom of Spain is one of the most unequal countries in Europe: there are countless daily evictions, which deny the right to housing to tens of thousands of humble families, to favor the banking and real estate companies; has the most alarming unemployment rates in Europe, among the highest in the world, especially in relation to youth employment, which translates into hopelessness for the new Spanish generations; scandalous cases of corruption of members of the ruling party have been discovered, including bonuses and shameless perks agreed upon behind the backs of the citizens; the use of police repression to kidnap the right to decide of the People of Catalonia was widely publicized, as well as the judicialization of politics in order to persecute and imprison those who differed from the official position, closing any option of civilized dialogue with its adversaries; not to mention the structural collapse of the health and social security services.

The Venezuelan people fortunately does not have to suffer the consequences of similar State policies. Even in economic difficulty, President Nicolás Maduro has expanded social investment. The right to housing is ensured through an innovative construction program unparalleled in the world, which has dignified almost two million humble families. Education and health in our country constitute universal rights guaranteed by the State, which have been democratized as never before in the years of the Revolution. Unemployment has reached historic lows. Social security is universal, 90% of senior citizens who are entitled to a pension, have it. The General Prosecutor’s Office has opened investigations and taken decisions against corruption, regardless of charges, surnames or partisan militancy. In our country, the right to decide is exercised constantly, without obstacles, with high levels of participation, through a secure and transparent automated electoral system.

The People and Government of Venezuela remind the Spanish Government that the sovereign and independent character of our Bolivarian Republic was conquered through a complex process of liberation that culminated with the definitive expulsion of the invading imperial forces almost two hundred years ago.

From the Homeland of the Liberator Simon Bolivar, we will continue raising our voices and taking concrete actions to defend the fundamental rights and the sacred independence of the Venezuelan people, within the framework of our Constitution and laws, without interference from imperialist and supremacist powers, as well as from subordinated governments with desperate colonial nostalgia.
