«So that it is recorded in history, today March 8 of this beautiful and blessed year 2025, in homage to all the women who gave their lives for the freedom, equality and independence of our Great Homeland, I inaugurate this special monolith,» announced the constitutional president Nicolás Maduro Moros, about the monuments that were erected in the Paseo Monumental de Los Próceres (Monumental Heroes Stroll), in Caracas, to the memory and homage of various heroines of the anti-imperialist history of Venezuela and Latin America.
The head of state reported that, 69 years after the construction of this promenade by General Marcos Pérez Jiménez, to reconcile the national history and the military academy of Venezuela, it was possible to build this new monument to the women of the country and the South American republics who sacrificed their lives for freedom and independence.
The beautiful sculptures represent Ana María Campos, Bartolina Sisa, Manuelita Sáenz, Juana Ramírez “La Avanzadora”, Bárbara de la Torre, Josefa Joaquina Sánchez, Marta Cumbale, Luisa Cáceres de Arismendi, Josefa Camejo, Cecilia Mujica, Eulalia Buroz and the cacica (*) Apacuana.
Highlighting the importance of this special event in Caracas, he said that in the Venezuelan history of centuries, the women of the country, girls, young women, adults of all ages have contributed their grain of sand for this independence that is maintained and fought for.
“For this walk of the Monoliths of the Venezuelan Motherland, we studied the subject further and we would need a space like the Gran Sabana to erect statues of our heroines from all centuries and centuries,” he commented with admiration.
