AN installs Nominations Committee to choose holders of the Citizen Power

The deputies that make up the Citizen Power Nominations Committee were installed this Friday in order to designate the new representatives of the Citizen Power, an instance that will be in charge of appointing or ratifying the Attorney General of the Republic, the Ombudsman and the Comptroller General of the Republic, as indicated by the president of this instance of the National Assembly (AN), Giuseppe Alessandrello.

From the gardens of the Federal Legislative Palace, the parliamentarian expressed that they will carry out «in a satisfactory and impeccable manner, in accordance with what the law indicates. In the next 30 days, we must finally present to the plenary session of the National Assembly the list of eligible candidates; so that the AN in plenary session finally selects the Attorney General of the Republic, the Ombudsman and the Comptroller General of the Republic.»

He stressed that they are advancing with the work schedule for these 30 days and are declaring themselves in permanent session until they complete the assigned task. Likewise, the deputy pointed out that preparations were made to publish the call for applications.

For his part, the vice president of the Citizen Power Nominations Committee, José Gregorio Correa, said that starting next Tuesday, registrations will open for citizens who wish to apply for the positions and asserted the freedom of the process for all interested parties: «Any Venezuelan who wants to be the new Comptroller, Prosecutor or Ombudsman, come and do it. This is a house that is open to everyone.»
