The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, visited the Mara municipality in Zulia state on Thursday, where he was welcomed with joy by the Wayuu and Añu indigenous communities. During his visit, the national president made several significant announcements for the region, focused on infrastructure, education, health and energy.
President Maduro instructed the construction of the Solar Park that will be located in the Mara municipality and will provide 50 megawatts to the La Guajira and Almirante Padilla municipalities, with the aim of stabilizing the electrical system of Zulia state and guaranteeing a reliable and sustainable supply.
In addition, he signed and ordered the creation of the Bilingual Intercultural Territorial University of La Guajira, which will offer a wide variety of careers, including engineering, economics, among others. “We have to respect the languages and cultures of indigenous peoples,” he said. In the area of infrastructure, resources were approved for the construction of the new coastal crossing and a lake dock between the Mara and Almirante Padilla municipalities, works that will improve connectivity and transportation in the region.
In terms of health, the National President highlighted the restoration and delivery of medication packages at the Paraguaipoa Integral Diagnostic Center (CDI), as well as the installation of a modern dialysis unit in La Guajira, actions that will be executed by the minister. of People’s Power for Petroleum, Pedro Tellechea:
“I brought resources in the first batch of 100 transformers, which will contribute to strengthening the local electrical infrastructure and in just 10 days, the direct passage of the aqueduct will be inaugurated, to continue improving access to drinking water,” he said.
The Head of State also emphasized the need to rescue roads in the area and tasked Minister Tellechea and the president of Corpozulia, G/J Néstor Reverol, with the rehabilitation of the roads from Zulia to Mara, as well as the recovery of the two schools in Laguna de Sinamaica and the completion of the “Hugo Chávez Frías and “Elio Valmores Castellano” high schools.
