More than 2 million elders registered in Great Mission Grandparents of the Homeland

In a continuous effort to improve the quality of life of elders, the Great Mission Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland reached a new milestone with more than 2,133,000 registered in its fourth vertex of action, present throughout the national territory, reported the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, during the closing of the Congress of Grandfathers and Grandmothers of the Homeland at the Teresa Carreño Theater.

In this sense, the head of state indicated that the states of Zulia, Miranda, Carabobo and the Capital District lead the list of registrations, closely followed by Aragua, Lara, Anzoátegui states among others. Furthermore, he highlighted the significant progress despite the difficulties imposed by international sanctions, while stating that “we are leaving the stage of the raw wounds of the sanctions behind.”

Circles of grandfathers and grandmothers:

With a view to further expanding the scope of the aforementioned social program, President Maduro expressed the objective of forming 30,000 circles of grandfathers and grandmothers in June. Likewise, he announced that in that month promising news will be revealed regarding the resources raised for the well-being of the elders.

In the same context, 12,000 Grandparents’ Circles were established, therefore, the national leader instructed to ensure advice in logistics, humanitarian, cultural and sports. Likewise, he emphasized the need to improve care for older adults in health centers and public transportation, which is why he urged the authorities to enforce the law and actively listen to the criticism and suggestions of this sector of the population.
