Parliament began public consultation on the Law for the control of NGOs

As planned, the National Assembly (AN) began this Friday the public consultation on the Law on Supervision, Regularization, Performance and Financing of Non-Governmental Organizations and related organizations in Venezuela.

This is a broad call that has the participation of representatives of various Non-Governmental Organizations, as well as public organizations including the Cicpc, Ombudsman’s Office, Public Defense, Public Ministry, Bolivarian National Armed Forces along with magistrates of the Supreme Court of Justice, and different instances and halls connected virtually to the consultation.

William Castillo, Vice Minister for Anti-Blockade Policies of the Ministry of Finance, was also present at the consultation.

Proposals from the public consultation will be systematized:

From the Protocol Chamber, Julio García Zerpa, first vice president of the Permanent Commission on Internal Policy, presented the bill to those present and explained that it has 18 articles and 2 transitional provisions.

Regarding the consultation, the parliamentarian pointed out that the different contributions will be evaluated and considered by the systematizing team and it is expected in a not too long period of time to have a definitive instrument for its second discussion.

Deputy Pedro Infante, first vice president of Parliament, who led this first debate, highlighted the obligation to submit laws to public consultation.

Likewise, he recalled that Deputy Diosdado Cabello, president of the Internal Policy Commission, when presenting the bill said that there were about 60 NGOs linked to political events in the country.
