Venezuela wins honorable mentions in Astronomy Olympiads

Venezuelan students Santiago Manuel de Jesús Chacón Cárdenas, 16 years old, and Abraham Pisani Aponte, 18 years old, won honorable mentions in the International Open Astronomy Olympiad taking place in the city of Sochi, in Russia, as reported the Minister of People’s Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, through her account on the X social network, @Gabrielasjr.

Chacón Cárdenas, 16 years old, is a native of Táchira state, taking the Informatics preparatory course at the Territorial Agro-industrial Polytechnic of Táchira state. For his part, Pisani Aponte, 18 years old from Caracas, will study Physics at the Simón Bolívar University (USB) by January 2024.

Regarding the achievement obtained by young Venezuelans, the minister mentioned that the recognition coincides with University Student Day, and that the Scientific Seedbed continues to make history in the world.

In this sense, she highlighted that they will continue the training and development of seed talents from the country who will become the new scientific professionals that the country needs: “Congratulations on this success that makes all of Venezuela proud!”
