Paraguay and Venezuela reestablish diplomatic and consular relations

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, through an official communiqué, announced that after conversations between President Nicolás Maduro and his Paraguayan counterpart, Santiago Peña, it was decided to reestablish diplomatic and consular relations between both nations; as well as the accreditation of ambassadors on a reciprocal basis in the coming days.

Likewise, both parties have committed to restarting bilateral relations with full respect for the fundamental principles of equal rights, self-determination of peoples, non-interference in the internal affairs of other States and solidarity; also based on the principles of Latin American integration and unity.
