Electoral bases accepted! Elections for Constituent National Assembly will be at the end of July


The President of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Tibisay Lucena, announced that the elections to elect members for the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) will be held at the end of July.

The main rector of the electoral body reported that the bases for the nomination of the ANC candidates presented by the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, were reviewed and approved.

“It is important to emphasize that this opportunity is a hopeful one for those who long for the tranquility and progress in Venezuela. This Constituent Assembly must be filled with the most diverse colors of our people, and propose the social and political agreement necessary to live together with respect for any other who is different in their political thinking”, said Lucena.

She recalled that the Constituent emerges as an alternative to a political reality “that urgently requires building peace and close the road to violence from there we will proceed with special care to guarantee the citizens’ rights.”

She informed that the CNE unanimously decided to work on a proposal for a timetable culminating in an ANC election at the end of July. Also announced that the regional elections will be held on December 10.

The President of the Electoral Power informed that on Thursday, May 24 at 3 pm, a session will be held to approve the electoral calendar for both the ANC and the regional elections.

“We believe that the whole nation wishes to overcome as soon as possible this terrible violent episode that harms and damages the will of all Venezuelans to live in harmony and understanding of differences, the great majority of the country is at variance with violent formulas for political action” , she assured.
