President Nicolas Maduro met in Miraflores Palace with representatives of the Committee of Victims of the «Guarimbas» (Street Riot Barricades) to formally install the Committee for Justice and Truth, which is chaired by the Vice President of the Republic, Aristobulo Isturiz; constitutional lawyer Hernán Escarrá and the Ombudsman, Tarek William Saab, among others.
The Head of State stressed that it will have the responsibility to fight for crimes committed during the «guarimbas» not go unpunished, the opening ceremony was held this Thursday after the President received more than 2 million signatures against the law on Criminal Amnesia.
«I want peace, but we are not going to build peace by pardoning criminals, we are going to build it by establishing the truth, justice, giving reparations to all the victims, for the Homeland in a single embrace to accompany them and asking forgiveness just as it happened in South Africa», said the Head of State.
