Venezuela and Colombia establish memorandum of cultural understanding

From the spaces of El Laguito, was held the signing of an Understanding Memorandum between the Minister of People’s Power for Culture of Venezuela, Ernesto Villegas and his counterpart of Cultures, Arts and Knowledge of the Republic of Colombia, Juan David Correa, as part of the inauguration of the 19thedition of the International Book Fair (Filven).

Minister Correa stated that there are people on the planet who still think that it is necessary to continue building borders, walls and material divisions to stop the human flows that have occurred since the beginning of time:

We hope to continue insisting in our societies on that stigmas are the recurring forces of fear and control, which is why the government of President Gustavo Petro wants to recognize that founding idea in our republican life; if we were the Gran Colombia, why would have to convince ourselves that we were suspicious of each other?, if we navigated the same rivers and inhabited the Guajira desert, why we had to undertake terrorist ideas on our limits?,” he expressed.

On his behalf, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stated that the poison of hatred, xenophobia and exclusion should never be sown among Venezuelans and Colombians; Colombia and Venezuela are brothers, a single people, and we must love each other.

It is important to highlight that countries such as Argentina, Peru and Spain also participate with their respective publishers, to give life to Filven 2023 with new publications, which will be open to the public from November 9 to 19, where will be honored Domingo Alberto Rangel, Carmen Delia Bencomo and Armando Carias.
